“No hay canal que interrumpa nuestro delivery.” Some accused the brand of exploiting the crisis to sell food.

#BoycottBurgerKing attracted thousands of tweets, with strong criticism and explicit calls for a boycott:

“A call to every honorable Egyptian, a call to all Arab brothers, a call to everyone who loves Egypt — Boycott the Burger King chain.”

"The Suez Canal is disrupted and will return to work again," wrote another user. "But when your heart breaks down due to loose burger oils and grease, it will not come back to life again."
